Leavin again...

For the last week I have been living in my Guatemalan home, which I just love! They are so awesome and love trying to understand what I am saying, the spanish is getting better everyday. I have been LOVING eating beans, rice and tortilla almost every meal...I'm not kiding, I LOVE beans, rice and tortillas, you can ask anyone on my team. I am slowly but surley becoming Guatemalan. :) The heat is getting intense. It was about 40 all day yesterday, i could feel my arms burning just walking back to the campus for class yesterday. But luckly, I dont burn, so intern the tan is getting insane. :)

Well to let you all know what I am up to for the next week, my schedual follows:
We are leaving for Honduras tomorrow. We are first driving to Honduras to get our VISA's renewed, so we are spending the night and going to the Mayan ruins there in Copan, the second biggest ruins..its going to be awesome. Then we drive up to the east coast (caribbean) !!!! There we take a two hour jugle boat ride up a river to the coast, to Livingston. After a couple days there we are off to Tikal, the largest Mayan ruins in Guatemala. We are also visiting the place they filmed survivor. Ya....then we drive all the way back home. We do all of this is 5 days, and we will be back on sunday. Well that is my schedual for the next 5 days....sounds pretty sweet eh.!!

I hope you all have a great week where ever you are :)

(this blog took me forever)

Well this past week a lot has happend. Starting with a literal BANG! Yes you guessed it, the volcano blew up. With our prof being here from Trinity we have classes in the morning and at night. It was nice having out afternoons off, and we were able to have time to chill in Antigua. Our favorite place in Antigua is our churches coffee shop. It the best place to meet other missonaries from Canada, the States and around the world. Its a really good place to get connections to other ministries, and find out whats going on around Guatemala. Alot of our friends from Antigua work there aswell, and its the best place to chill, do some homework and drink some good Guatemalan Coffee. Also this week we had a team from Pacific Academy arrive on our campus. They will be with us untill next monday. It awesome having more people to talk to, and also catch up on the goings on from back home.
Last week we also went into Guatemala city.
We visted the National Palace and the Guatemalan city dump, its not just a place for the cities garbage, but people who cant afford land find themselves having to live in the dump. As you can see this has been going on for years. The people have found a way to wire in electricity, and the area is slowly becoming a whole town. The people that end up moving into the dump usually end up making the dump their job. Everyday they go into the dump that search for iteams they can sell to other people who have set up recycling shops near the dump. It is a whole cycle that continues on from generation to generation, and it is never hard to get out of the loop.
Here is me in Antigua. Dad, you would like this, they have this whole area set up as anew and used books sale every week end (its huge!!)

day O' adventure!

On sunday we went to church in Antigua and met up with our sweet new Guatemalan friends, Esau, Jessie and Jonathan. The day went from a lunch at Mcdonalds..i know bad..and then everything went up hill. Somehow convincing the guards at two churches (ruins) that we were "guatemalans from the city" we got in for the Guatemalan price (only 3 Q) usaually its 20 Q for tourists. Well we spent the whole day hanging out and finding the coolest places in Antigua. A great day with amazing friends I love it here.

Well after the day was complete we had to say goodbye to Jessie, as he was off to Germany the next day for 3 months to go see his girl friend. So goodbye to a friend we just met, but Esau and Jonathan dont care...lol. By the way they are all brothers.

Well what an amazing day!!
